3 Signs God Is Saying, “You’ll Be Married Soon”

Jeremiah 29:11

Here are three signs that could mean God is saying, “You’ll be married soon.”

1. God Could Be Saying, “You’ll Be Married Soon” if This Is What You Need to Hear

In the next two points, I will give you some practical signs God can speak through about your future relationship status. But before we get to the “how,” I think it’s important to first think about the “why.”

In many cases, I don’t believe God will give you little glimpses into the future other than in the ways that you need. In other words, if you’re just curious, God probably is not going to tell you what is coming ahead. Rather, when God gives his people warnings about the future, there’s always a purpose to it.

For example, when God warned Pharaoh about the coming famine and gave Joseph the ability to interpret this dream, it was for the purpose of preparation. Joseph was able to use the seven years of plenty to get ready for the seven years of famine (Genesis 41:47-49).

Likewise, if God really is going to tell you anything about the future, such as “You will be married soon,” it’s not meant to just bring you comfort and to satisfy your curiosity. Rather, God would only tell you this if this was what you needed to hear to prepare for what he had planned for you.

2. God Could Be Saying, “You’ll Be Married Soon” if You Are Delighting in the Lord and Prepared to Get Married

Psalm 37:4 states, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Contrary to what many people believe, this verse is not meant to be interpreted as a blank check for all of us who delight in the Lord. You can really enjoy Jesus and truly love God and still have unmet desires in your heart. At the root of this verse, I believe our desires are met when we delight in God because at the core of every desire is actually a deeper longing for God. All the good reflected in the world is really pointing us back to Jesus.

So even when it comes to your longing for a spouse, beneath that desire is actually an arrow pointing you back to Jesus. And yet, none of this means the other good desires we have for other things besides God himself are wrong. God made men and women with a desire for marriage. Thus, while Psalm 37:4 shouldn’t be used like a genie in a bottle, it should also give us a lot of hope that our loving Father wants to bless his children.

One reason he withholds blessings is when we are not ready for them. In Matthew 7:7, Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Here again we have a verse that could be mistaken as a blank check. And yet, look at the qualifier given in Matthew 7:11, “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”

God only gives “good things” to his children. Thus, if you really want something from the Lord, you have to get yourself into a position where this gift would be good for you. In other words, the fastest way to be blessed with a spouse is to become the type of Christian who would be ready to be a great spouse.

If you are enjoying the Lord and you are preparing yourself to thrive in a biblical marriage, this is a great sign that you might be married sooner rather than later.

3. God Is Saying, “You’ll Be Married Soon” if You Have Met Someone and Your Connection Is Growing Towards Marriage

The fact is, the only way to truly know if God will let you get married soon is if you enter into a relationship that is taking the steps that would allow you two to get married soon.

In other words, while I do believe God speaks in our hearts through the Spirit, and sometimes the Spirit gives us little warnings about the future to help us get ready for what’s ahead, God also speaks through the circumstances of our lives and through his Scriptures.

To know if God will lead you to get married soon, you will need biblical and external indicators that would lead you to believe this. Proverbs 22:3 states, “The wise see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.” Just as God wants us to see dangers ahead and plan accordingly, so too does God want us to see the possible harvest ahead so we can plan accordingly for that as well (Proverbs 6:8, Proverbs 20:4).

Perhaps you have met another eligible Christian single person and you two are forming a connection like you’ve never experienced before. Or maybe you have been dating another Christian and you two are clearly getting really serious.

If a connection with another Christian is biblical and the chemistry between you two is actually happening in reality, this is a very powerful sign that God could be getting you ready to be married soon.
