5 Biblical Ways to Draw “Your Person” to You Without Even Talking to Them

Proverbs 27:2

Of course you will eventually need to talk to someone if you want to make a romantic connection. But did you know there are biblical things you can do that will help you meet the right person that don’t require any talking?

Here are 5 biblical ways you can help yourself meet the one God has for you without even talking to this person.

1. Fasting Can Help You Meet the Person God Has for You

When Ezra and the people desired safe travels on their journey, Ezra 8:23 states, “So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer.” Throughout the Scriptures, fasting is a regular pattern for God’s people when they have a passionate request for the Lord (Matthew 6:16).

I’m not promising you that a fast will for sure result in God bringing you your future spouse right when you want this to happen. But I do believe fasting can be very beneficial for any prayer request, including when it comes to desiring marriage. Fasting can be used to sanctify your motives, it can help you hear what directions God may be telling you to take, and it can empower your prayers by helping you submit your will to God’s will.

2. Building Your Character Can Help You Meet the Person God Has for You

For better or worse, our reputation often precedes us.

This is what happened with Ruth and Boaz. He said to her, “I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband—how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before” (Ruth 2:11, NIV). Ruth and Boaz never spoke before this interaction in Ruth 2. And yet Boaz already knew about her, which helped him have a positive view of her.

Likewise, as you continue to build your character, you will naturally be drawing the right person to you without even saying a word (Proverbs 3:3-4).

3. Being Visibly Predictable Can Help You Meet the Person God Has for You

If you show up to church randomly, if you are not involved in a weekly or bi-weekly Bible study, and if you are not serving in a ministry on a consistent basis, how will anyone be able to find you even if they were interested in getting to know you.

By being visible in a predictable way, you allow others the time to build up the courage to approach you. You may not even know this person exists, but perhaps they are interested in you because they regularly see you serving or participating in your Christian community. Psalm 1:1-4 states:

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.”

The wicked are blown around and you can’t find them. The righteous are predictably doing righteous things.

4. Allowing Other People to Speak for You Can Help You Meet the Person God Has for You

Proverbs 27:2, “Let another praise you, and not your own mouth . . .”

When you have good character and you have a place in a healthy Christian community, they will often speak for you. People will begin to hear your name and take note of the positive things others say. When someone does get interested in you, they will ask those around you for more information. And it’s always possible that a mutual friend feels compelled to introduce you to someone if they feel like you two would be a good match.

By being an active friend and church member, God may use others to speak for you before you even interact with the person he has for you.

5. Praying Will Help You Meet the Person God Has for You

Whenever you have a good desire, God wants you to pray about it. Of course God may not answer your prayer the way you want or exactly when you want, but through prayer, God will eventually direct you and your future spouse together if he does have marriage planned for you.

So even if you are not speaking to anyone you are romantically interested in right now, make sure you keep speaking to God about the desires of your heart for a godly relationship. When we pray biblical prayers, like the prayer for a spouse, he loves to answer them (1 John 5:14).
