5 Classy Qualities Christian Men Always Notice in a Woman

1 Corinthians 14:32-35

Here are 5 classy qualities in a woman that Christian men always notice.

1. Christian Men Notice a Woman Who Creates Order Rather than Chaos

In Ephesians 5:24, it says that as the church submits to Christ, so too should a wife submit to her husband. In the Greek, the word used here for submit is “hypotasso,” which means “to place in order. To place under in an orderly fashion.”

What’s interesting is that this is the same Greek word used in 1 Corinthians 14:32-33 (NIV), “The spirits of prophets are subject (hypotasso) to the control of prophets. For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.”

Finally, what is most interesting to me is that this passage about God being a God of order is directly followed by the controversial statements in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 (NIV), which again use the same Greek word for submit, “Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission (hypotasso), as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.”

I know this passage creates a lot of questions. It has been misused to oppress women. However, it is in the Bible, and thus we should not just dismiss it and try to explain it away. Rather, we should try to understand why God would say this. I think there is something here about the need for “order.” It’s not that a woman is uneducated or has an inability to contribute or that she can’t do anything without her husband. That’s not what this is saying.

Rather, its point is that God has made an order in relationships. The man and woman are a team that have different roles that complement each other. There is design that must be followed for the relationship to thrive.

So my point here is that a godly man notices when a woman is “ordered.” If her life is chaotic and she is always kicking against the goads (Acts 26:14), which is to say she is “resisting God’s leading,” he will not want to pair up with her. He wants someone he can work with to bring more order into the world (Genesis 1:28), not less.

2. Christian Men Notice a Woman Who Values Her Feminine Roles Over Her Other Roles in Life

A worldly woman reads what the Bible says about women and feels it is oppressive. However, a Christian woman reads what the Bible says about women and finds freedom in it. She wants to embrace her feminine desires. She likes the idea of being a wife, a mom, a homemaker. She doesn’t feel the need to elevate a woman with a career over a woman who is a full-time stay at home mom.

Nor does she feel the need to put down the woman with the career. She knows a woman will and should have many other roles in her life besides wife and mother. However, a godly woman also knows that when she takes on these two roles as a woman, they must take precedence over all her other roles in life. It’s not wrong for her to have a career, but she will know her family comes first.

Proverbs 14:1, “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”

3. Christian Men Notice a Woman Who Respects Godly Men

Throughout human history, women have been oppressed by men. That is a fact. So of course the social work that has been done to create equal rights for women in the western world was important and good.

However, in addition to the good that has been done, much bad has also occurred too while being masked as though it was done for the good of women. Really, much of feminism today is not about loving women but it’s more about hating men. That is the toxic, satanic feminism that Christian women need to reject (Genesis 3:16).

Men are under attack these days and we need Christian women to defend biblical masculinity within the culture we live in (Titus 2:3-5). Therefore, when you truly respect the men who are seeking to be godly men, you will shine and get noticed by these men because most women are not like that these days.

4. Christian Men Notice a Woman Who Has Good Friends

When you walk in as a group of women, for better or worse, you get labeled by that group you are in. Yes, we should all be assessed by our own choices. But it is also our choice on who we spend our time with and on who we choose to make our close friends.

If your close friends are promiscuous, toxic feminists, or worldly, a godly man will assume you are just like your friends (1 Corinthians 15:33). However, if your friends are seeking to love God and embrace his truth, then a godly man will find it much easier to notice you and pursue you.
