4 Marks She Was Sent By God to Help You Grow

Proverbs 18:22

Proverbs 18:22 says, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.”

When the favor of the Lord is upon you, it doesn’t mean ease and a comfortable life. Rather, it means God will use you in powerful ways for his purposes. And God has designed most men to be most effective with a godly woman by their side (Genesis 2:18).

Therefore, here are four biblical marks of a woman sent by God to help you grow.

And for those of you who have been enjoying my short articles and videos, I wanted to let you know about a unique opportunity to keep growing with me. While the videos and articles are great for someone who just wants general relationship information, if you are a Christian single person looking for an entire program about meeting, dating, and marrying the person God has for you, I created AGW University for you.

In these biblical relationship training courses, I go deep into very specific topics that you need to understand if you want to prepare well in your season of singleness so you can thrive in a relationship one day. The courses are ordered in such a way that they build on each other. For example, the first course students take is called Heart Check: How to Prepare Your Heart for a Godly Relationship. The classes in this course include:

1. She Inspires You to Mature as a Spiritual Leader

A woman sent by God won’t just make you feel good. She will help you realize what you are meant to be. As a man, you will be the spiritual leader in a marriage (Ephesians 5:23). When you meet a godly woman who makes you think about marriage, you will naturally want to get ready for this role by continuing your growth in the Lord.

Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” The same is true in a godly relationship with a woman. The sharpening process must involve some friction. A woman sent by God will make you uncomfortable with your own spiritual passivity. She won’t do this by nagging you. Rather, when you grow to love her, you will want to be the best version of yourself so you can lead her well. This will naturally lead you to examine your shortcomings and address them through the grace of the Lord.

2. She Honors God’s Word Above Her Own Desires

A woman sent by God is not ruled by emotion, peer pressure, or culture. Rather, she’s anchored in the word of God. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” A woman who lives by this truth becomes a light in your life, too.

She doesn’t manipulate or control to get her way; she submits her emotions to Scripture. When conflict arises, she doesn’t weaponize her verbal skills and twist your words. Instead, she seeks reconciliation through biblical principles. She’s humble enough to admit her own wrongs and forgiving enough to not hold your mistakes against you once you repent. And she’s not doing all this because she will always feel like doing it. She will do these things because she is submitting to the Scriptures.

3. She Will Be Happy to Support You on Your Journey of Growth

A woman sent by God sees what you’re becoming, not just what you currently are. Of course, a godly woman must have standards for a man that she doesn’t compromise on. But a woman sent by God to help you grow will also know you are a work in progress. She will be excited to support you on your journey as she reaps the benefits of starting small with you but helping you build a kingdom together.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” The woman God sends will do exactly that. She’ll remind you of who you are in Christ when you feel unworthy. She’ll push you to stay faithful to your mission when distractions tempt you to quit.

This type of woman doesn’t compete with your calling – she complements it. Like Priscilla and Aquila in Acts 18, she joins you on your mission rather than pulling you away from it. Her encouragement fuels your endurance.

4. She Will Want You to Help Her Grow Too

You can’t help someone grow if you’re not growing yourself. A woman sent by God will never act like she’s “arrived.” Instead, you’ll see humility, teachability, and a hunger for God’s word in her. She will want to be with a man who can also help her as she helps him.

She wants to be with a man with whom she can practice Colossians 3:16, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”

And don’t forget, if you are a Christian single person who wants to invest the time and energy to do a deep study on biblical relationship principles, enrollment in AGW University is open until November 24th. Over 2000 people have gone through these courses, and the feedback has been tremendous.
