4 Signs God Is Speaking to You About Someone

Ephesians 4:25

Here are 4 ways God will speak to you about someone in your life.

And if you haven’t heard, enrollment for AGW University will close for this year on 11/21/22 at 11:59pm. I designed these relationship training courses for Christians who are single but who also feel called to pursue marriage one day when God reveals the right person.

If you want biblical training that will help you meet, date, and marry the person God has for you in the healthiest way possible, click here to learn more about AGW University. I’m also offering a big scholarship for everyone who enrolls before the 11/21/22 deadline.

1. If Your View of Someone Is Being Corrected Through Tangible Evidence, This Is a Sign God Is Speaking to You About This Person

In the points ahead, I will give you some more negative and positive signs to look for; but in this point, I’m really not talking about anything negative or positive but rather God’s correction in general.

For example, perhaps you met a man at work and you immediately thought he’s not your type, he doesn’t seem to be a Christian, and he probably is already dating someone. But then as you get to know him, perhaps you then realize he does have some attractive qualities, he actually is a Christian, and he isn’t dating anyone. Or maybe you met a woman in your small group at church that you really were attracted to and admired for her spiritual maturity. But then as you spend time with her, you realize she’s too pushy for you and does not possess the feminine traits you are looking for in a Christian woman.

In instances like these, you did not sin by assessing someone with the information you had at that time. But through giving you more tangible evidence that contradicts your original assessment, God is lovingly correcting you. This is a common experience for those who are trusting in the Lord.

For as Proverbs 3:5-6 famously promises, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

2. If the Holy Spirit Is Convicting You of Sin, Either Mental or Physical, Regarding This Person, This Is a Sign God Is Speaking to You About Them

We can never blame anyone for our sins because the Bible states we are free beings who choose to sin (James 1:13-15). However, when it comes to repenting of sin, the Spirit will speak to us about the temptations in our lives and sometimes a person is a temptation to us.

For example, if someone is tempting you sexually, you should remove them (1 Corinthians 6:18). If someone is pushing you to join them in drunken worldliness, God says to have no part with them (Proverbs 23:20-21). If you are in a season of life where you know God is telling you to fast from dating but someone in your life is a mental idol that you can’t stop thinking about, this may mean God is telling you to remove this person (1 John 5:21).

3. If Are Getting Biblical Confirmation that This Person Is Really Good for You, This Is a Sign God Is Speaking to You About This Person

It’s so easy as Christians to assume God never wants us in a relationship because we struggle with idolizing relationships. But God does not tell people to give up good things that are being idolized. Rather, God tells us to repent of idolizing them and to then use them in the good ways God wants them to be used for his glory (1 Timothy 6:17-19).

For example, God loves romantic relationships that lead to marriage. God is the one who made marriage and romance. However, he just wants us to use these relationships in a way that helps and does not hurt our walk with him.

So if someone in your life is helping you flee youthful passions as you pursue the Lord (2 Timothy 2:22, if their wisdom is helping you become more wise (Proverbs 13:20), or if you two are helping each other bear one another’s burden so you are fulfilling the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2), these are biblical signs that God is speaking to you about this person and confirming that this person is good for you and you are good for them.

4. If You Are Receiving Correction, Conviction, or Confirmation Through Your Christian Community, This Is a Good Sign God Is Speaking to You

Sometimes a brother or sister in Christ will share a concern that confirms the concern you had but had doubts about. Or maybe someone shares their positive opinion about someone that you too felt really good about. Or maybe someone in your Christian community shares a biblical thought with you that really helps you answer a question you had about someone.

Sometimes we are too close to the situation to see it properly. Thus, God often speaks through the other Christians in our lives. As Ephesians 4:25 states, “. . . let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.”

Does your heart need healing before you can enter a relationship? Do you want to understand the differences between men and women from a biblical perspective so you can approach the opposite sex in the best way possible? Would you benefit from practical strategies to meet eligible Christian singles your age that you can connect well with?

If so, you may want to check out AGW University before the 11/21/22 deadline.  These courses are a lot of hard work, so if you aren’t prepared to dive in deep to what the Bible says about relationships, these courses are not for you.

But if you are single, if you are ready to work hard because you want a heathy marriage one day, and if you want to live for God’s glory by obeying his words about relationships, you will benefit a lot from these courses I’ve made.
