3 Signs God Is Telling You to Take a Risk to Reap a Reward

2 Corinthians 9:6

Contrary to popular belief, following God is not the safest way to live your life. The Bible is full of incredible stories of faithful saints who followed God even when it was risky. However, the Bible is also full of verses commanding us to be wise. As Christians, we need to find the biblical balance between wisdom and taking risks when God leads us to do so.

So here are 3 signs God is actually leading you to take a wise risk to reap a reward, for as 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NIV) states: “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”

And on a quick side note, I want to encourage you to read the very end of this article if you are a Christian single person because I have some important information for you that I don’t want you to miss. There are only a few hours left to get my relationship training courses and to receive a bunch of great bonuses that might truly change your life. So if you’re interested and you don’t want to miss out, you will definitely want to read the end of this video so I can share more information with you.

1. God May Be Telling You to Take a Risk When It Is Required to Express Your Love for Someone

When I’m using the word “risk,” I certainly don’t mean that God would lead you to do something unbiblical or foolish. As Christians we must obey Proverbs 4:23 which tells us to guard our hearts, so we need to be careful that we are not living recklessly and exposing ourselves to unnecessary emotional or physical dangers.

With that said, one reason I know God will lead us to take some risks in life is because love is always risky to some degree. In other words, you can’t guarantee how every relationship will turn out. There are no guarantees in relationships because to have a true love relationship in any form, human free will is needed. Two people need to choose to love one another while fully recognizing that they cannot control the other person.

So there is no such a thing as safe love. Yes, when it comes to romantic relationships, you must be wise. God would never lead you to risk your heart by getting back into a relationship where abuse occurred and this person is still abusive. That would be a foolish and unbiblical choice that God would not lead us to make.

But when you want to be in a true loving relationship with someone, you must be prepared to risk, especially at the beginning of a relationship when you will need to open up and risk being rejected when you express your interest in someone.

2. God May Be Leading You to Take a Risk If You Are Asking Him to Start Something New in Your Life

In Luke 14:25-33, Jesus teaches us that we must count the cost of following him. I love how honest Jesus is with us. Yes, following Jesus will bring us the most joy and greatest rewards for eternity. Yes, grace is free. But following God will still be risky and costly.

I believe in the principle that the greater the request you are making to God, the greater the step of faith God will lead you to take to receive the blessing you are asking for. For example, if you are asking God to bless you financially as you seek to start a new business, God may very well answer this prayer. However, he will not do this magically. He will empower you to take the necessary wise business risks that all entrepreneurs make at the beginning of their new ventures. He will help you create this new business in a biblical, ethical, and wise way. But he will not remove all the risks.

Another common example of this is when people are asking God to send them a Christian husband or wife. This is a great prayer request that God loves to hear because he is the one who made marriage; however, God will not answer this prayer by simply dropping someone into your life who will pursue you and do all the relationship heavy lifting. Certainly God may bring someone new into your life, but he will also require you to open up and risk things as well to start this new relationship.

Likewise, he may not just bring someone new into your life. He may have you take a risk in expressing interest towards a friend so you two can start a new chapter in your relationship. Or God may answer your prayer but require you to take a big step of faith and try something new like online dating.

The point is, when you are asking God to do something new and fresh in your life, he will often lead you to take a wise and biblical risk to receive this blessing. And on a quick side note, taking wise relationship risks to meet the one God may have for you is a topic I help people learn more about in my course called 10 Steps to Meet The One God Has for You which is included in AGW University.

3. God May Lead You to Take a Risk When Your Fears Are Blocking the Blessings He Wants to Give You

So many times in life, when we are asking God for a breakthrough, the barrier blocking God’s blessing is rooted in our internal fears and hesitations. God often does want to answer our prayers just the way we are asking him to do, but the way he will bring about this breakthrough will require us to overcome those internal issues we have that are keeping us frozen and are thus hindering us from moving forward.

Notice the connection between the blessings God promised Joshua with the need to overcome fears. In Joshua 1:8-9, the Lord said:

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

As God said to Joshua, if you want to be prosperous and have good success, you must also be strong and courageous in the Lord, not frightened by anything. This certainly will involve taking risky steps of faith in the Lord. For example, in Joshua 6 God led his people to march around Jericho for 7 days to receive victory over the enemy. That was certainly a risky choice by Joshua and the Israelites. But they obeyed and God blessed them for it. Likewise, if you want God’s blessings you must also be willing to follow God when he leads you to take a step of faith.
