Maybe you heard God say, “That is the man you will marry one day.” Or maybe you felt God said, “That woman will come back into your life one day.” Or maybe you sensed God whispering, “Don’t worry, I will bless you with a better job soon.”
Perhaps you have prayed for a spouse, but you are still single. Perhaps you have prayed for a better career situation, but there doesn’t appear to be any open doors. Or maybe you have a reoccurring sin in your life that you wish God would remove, but no matter what you try it remains. Is God delaying your desire or denying it?
What will God do to a liar according to the Bible? When you learn about what God will do to a liar, it can be downright scary. Proverbs 19:9, “. . . he who breathes out lies will perish.”
Watching and waiting are both biblical commands, but they are not quite the same thing. Waiting is when there is nothing left to do but trust and remain faithful for God to act in his timing.
Fear is a focus on an unwanted outcome in the future. Fear occurs because you are worried about experiencing a pain you don’t want to experience or not experiencing a pleasure you do want to experience.
God has certainly called Christians to live in community with other Christians. Proverbs 18:1 states, “Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment.”
By the term “a waiting stage,” I’m talking about a season of life where God just wants you to wait before making proactive steps towards his will for you. Eventually God will lead you to do something, but oftentimes he’s simply telling you to wait for the right time.
There is a difference between God showing “favoritism” compared to God showing “favor.”
The more we desire something, the more we worry about getting it. Sometimes the worry can get so bad, so all-consuming, so unbearable, that we actually just want to give up the desire itself so we can escape all the anxiety attached to this desire.
