It’s tempting to always be waiting for new insight from the Lord. We often find peace once we hear God say “Wait” or “Go,” but then that peace starts to fade because the next day we start to doubt what we heard.

Over the years, I’ve often been presented with the question, “I had sex with someone, so are we now married in God’s eyes?” Similarly, I’ve also been asked, “Aren’t marriage ceremonies and marriage certificates simply man-made ideas? Can’t two people just commit themselves before God and be married in God’s eyes?”

Throughout Scripture, we are commanded to always be praying (1 Thessalonians 5:17, Ephesians 6:18, Philippians 4:6). However, this does not mean God wants us to always keep asking him for one specific thing until he gives it to us. Sometimes God will actually lead us to stop asking for something we have been relentlessly asking for.
