Here are 4 marks of a woman sent by Satan to tempt a man sexually.
1. A Woman Sent By Satan to Tempt You Sexually Will Aggressively Initiate Physical Contact
I don’t mean she will be “aggressive” in the sense of abusive or going against your will. Rather, I’m referring to a woman who initiates the kissing, initiates the intimate touching, and asks to meet in places where the sin will take place.
Think of Potiphar’s wife as she tried to seduce Joseph. Genesis 39:6-7, “Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance. And after a time his master’s wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, ‘Lie with me.’” She wasn’t very subtle!
Many men drastically underestimate how vulnerable they are to this type of temptation. A lot of men secretly hope a woman will make the first move because it removes the pressure of pursuit and makes sinful compromise feel easier to justify. A man may tell himself, “Well, she wanted it,” as though her initiation somehow removes his responsibility before God. Instead of pursuing this sexual sin, he just lets it happen. In God’s eyes, the sin is the same. But to ease his own conscience, some guys are more susceptible to a woman who is sexually aggressive
Like Joseph, a godly man does not allow himself to be led into evil. He doesn’t hang around as she tries to wear him down. He gets out of there as fast as he can. Genesis 39:12 (NLT), “She came and grabbed him by his cloak, demanding, ‘Come on, sleep with me!’ Joseph tore himself away, but he left his cloak in her hand as he ran from the house.”
2. A Woman Sent By Satan to Tempt You Sexually Will Create Artificial Emotional Intimacy Very Quickly
One of the most common ways sexual temptation develops is through premature emotional bonding.
A woman being used by Satan may quickly begin sharing deeply personal struggles, texting you constantly, talking for hours late into the night, complimenting you excessively, or speaking as though you two already share a unique emotional bond.
Men often feel deeply attached to women who make them feel understood, admired, needed, or emotionally desirable. And once a man feels emotionally connected, his physical boundaries often become much weaker.
This is why emotional wisdom matters so much. Satan rarely leads people into sexual sin instantly. More often, compromise happens gradually through breaking wise boundaries bit by bit.
Song of Solomon 8:4 says, “Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.” When emotional intimacy is awakened too quickly, wisdom and self-control are often tossed out the window.
3. A Woman Sent By Satan to Tempt You Sexually Will Isolate You and Consume All Your Time
Let’s go back to Potiphar’s wife. Notice when she made her move. Genesis 39:11-12, “But one day, when he went into the house to do his work and none of the men of the house was there in the house, she caught him by his garment, saying, ‘Lie with me.’”
Separating the prey from the pack is common predatorial behavior. Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”
A godly man who walks closely with other strong Christian brothers, lives in the light, and stays connected to a healthy community is usually much harder to pull into sin. But when a woman begins consuming all his time and slowly separating him from the Christian relationships that were strengthening him spiritually, he’s much more susceptible to sexual temptation.
Proverbs 18:1 says, “Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire . . .”
4. A Woman Sent By Satan to Tempt You Sexually Will Pretend to Be a Mature Christian Woman
Just because a woman goes to church does not mean she is spiritually healthy or genuinely pursuing Christ.
As 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 explains, “Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.”
A woman may know the right worship songs, Bible verses, and Christian phrases while still tempting a man into compromise. Jesus said in Matthew 7:16, “You will recognize them by their fruits.”
