3 Things God Always Does to a Man Who Chooses a Worldly Woman

1. If You Choose a Worldly Woman, God Will Let You Reap What You Sow

There is a terrifying principle found in the Bible about reaping what you sow (Galatians 6:7-9). Many people imagine God as this vindictive, angry being that is eager to smite everyone who doesn’t obey him.

However, Scripture is clear that nothing could be further from the truth (2 Peter 3:9)! Not only does God love us so much that he sent his only Son to pay for the sins we commit (John 3:16), but he also loves us enough to not force us to obey him.

In other words, rather than randomly smiting people who reject him, God is simply allowing people to choose their own punishment. Romans 1:24-26 makes clear that “God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity” and “God gave them up to dishonorable passions.” Like Pharaoh, God only hardens the human heart after that human has chosen to first harden their own heart towards God (Exodus 9:34, Exodus 10:20).

Thus, one of the scariest things that will happen to you if you choose to disobey God’s warnings about worldly women is that the Lord will let you make that choice. Remember Solomon? He was highly favored by God, and yet even his heart was turned away by godless women (Nehemiah 13:26).

God’s laws are not there to steal our pleasure. They’re there to protect us from pain (Psalm 119:24).

2. If You Choose a Worldly Woman, You Will Realize It’s Better to Be Alone Than with the Wrong Person

Many men say something very foolish that they later regret in life. They say something like, “I’m just tired of being alone. None of these godly women want me. I’m not even sure any godly women exist anymore. But look at all these guys with non-Christian women. They seem happy. I’m done obeying the Lord here. I’d rather be with a worldly woman than with no woman at all.”

Every Christian man who’s gone down that road always comes to the same painful conclusion, “I was so wrong! It’s way better to be alone than with a worldly woman!”

  • Proverbs 16:8, “Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice.”
  • Proverbs 21:19,It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and fretful woman.”

3. If You Choose a Worldly Woman, You Will Be at Great Risk of Forever Turning Your Back on God

If you’ve already made the mistake of choosing a worldly woman, take heart; we serve a gracious God. He can redeem you. He will forgive you if you confess and repent (1 John 1:9).

However, while that is true, many who fall into sin and turn their back on God never return. Instead of acting like the prodigal son, coming to their senses, realizing they are to blame for their own misery, these men never take responsibility for their own sins and instead blame God for their own bad choices.

They become the type of men outlined in Proverbs 19:3, “When a man’s folly brings his way to ruin, his heart rages against the Lord.”

Don’t be that man! Instead, heed the warning found in Isaiah 55:6-7, “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”

There are godly women out there. But the first step in finding them is to become a godly man. We have to make our choices because, even in relationships, they can result in blessings or curses. Proverbs 12:3-4 explains:

No one is established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous will never be moved. An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones.”
