Have you ever said something like, “There are just no Christians singles at my church” or “I live in a small town so my options are really limited” or “I tried online dating once and it was a total disaster” or “The only people who want to date me are non-Christians.”
What good things happen when Christians put God first in a relationship? And what negative consequences are there when people do not put God first in their relationships?
Here are 4 reasons it’s so important to put God first in a relationship.
Satan’s primary goal is not to keep you single. According to 1 Peter 5:8, the devil’s main goal is to destroy you.
Satan wants to prevent people from becoming Christians (2 Corinthians 4:4). If he can’t keep you from becoming a Christian, his next goal is to keep you from becoming an effective Christian who truly glorifies God (John 10:10).

Is God preparing you for marriage? We certainly cannot always know the will of God for our futures, but often times God prepares us for a calling before he allows us to walk in that calling.
So here are 3 signs that God might be preparing you for marriage.
In one of my recent videos called 3 Signs God Is Keeping You Single, one of the points I made there was that God will often keep people single if they are too immature to handle a godly relationship. As Matthew 7:11 states, God only gives “good gifts” to his children.
One question this raised in the minds of many was, “Well why are there so many immature people who are married then? If God keeps some people single because they are not prepared for marriage, what about all the people who are married even though they are not living for God?”
When you are single it is easy to assume that marriage will solve a lot of the issues you are experiencing. In some cases, marriage really can help you. Through a healthy Christian marriage, you will experience companionship, support, and a teammate in life that truly is a blessing. For as Proverbs 18:22, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.”
Is sex an important element in Christian marriage? Is sex just something that is kind of shallow and fleshly that super mature Christians should not need? Or is there something more to sex that God intends for the Christian marriage?
