God Will Unleash His Blessings On You If . . .

James 1:12

Here are 4 signs God is preparing you right now for a future season of major blessings.

1. If Your Desire to Obey God’s Commands in the Bible Is Growing, This Is a Sign God Is Preparing You to Be Blessed By Him

One of the main differences between the Prosperity Gospel the real Gospel is that the prosperity preacher takes the truths in the Bible about blessings but changes the requirements to receive those blessings and changes the details about what those blessings actually are.

This is what the word of God actually says in James 1:12, “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:25 says, “But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”

The pattern we are taught in Scripture is that to be blessed you must first be obedient to God’s words. God will not bless us because we do what a pastor says to then receive what the pastor is promising. No, we will be blessed when we do what the word of God says to receive what the word of God promises.

God demands obedience to his written commands, and the biggest blessing is never material but first and foremost spiritual – meaning the blessing God gives when we obey is that our relationship with him is enriched.

2. If God Is Increasing Your Desire and Ability to Serve Others Sacrificially, This Is a Sign God Is Preparing You for a Major Season of Blessings

Here again we can see the difference between God’s truth and the world’s false promises. The world tells us that to be happy and to be blessed, we must put our own needs before everyone else’s needs. But this is the opposite of what God states in the Bible. For in Acts 20:35 it states:

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

The best way to bless yourself is to be a blessing to someone else. The more you sacrifice in love to help other people, the more you will see that serving and loving are some of the most profound blessings in and of themselves from God. If you don’t want to waste your life, you must use it to serve others.

3. If God Is Increasing Your Understanding About the Purpose of Pain, This Is a Sign God Is Preparing You for a Major Season of Blessings

It’s okay to wish you didn’t have to experience pain. I think we would all be lying to ourselves if we pretended like we looked forward to painful trials in life. But when we read the Bible with an open heart, it is impossible to ignore the odd reality that God promises good through the bad we experience on earth. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 explains:

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

If you are learning how to do what Paul was talking about here, if you are learning to look past the present pain in your life so you can see the future pleasure this pain is preparing you for, then this is a sign God is getting you ready to receive his blessings.

4. If Your Understanding of How Much God Loves You Is Growing, This Is a Sign Your Ability to Receive God’s Blessings Are Growing as Well

When we cry out to God for a material blessing yet we ignore the blessing of his love for us, it is like throwing away a beautiful steak dinner and getting on our knees to eat from the dog bowl. There is nothing in this life that can even come close to the blessing of knowing you are deeply loved by God himself.

As Psalm 63:3-4 states, “Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.”
